2012 Preview (Part Two)

Continuing on with what's new and unique for 2012, The Apparel Wire spotlights a number of other companies and what they are showcasing for the coming year.

• Greg Norman Collection's fashion sweaters are the standout of its fall 2012 assortment. Inspired by classic Scottish golf sweaters, the designs bring a modern adaptation of classic argyles with an updated retro feel and interesting patterns and placements. A mix of cardigans, sweater vests, v-necks and 1/4-zip sweaters are all knitted in the signature blend of pima cotton and soft Lenzing Modal yarn.

• Dunning Golf's fall 2012 collection features Interface Stretch Polos, constructed using proprietary Interface Wicking Technology. The technology features permanent moisture management and extreme breathability. The fall collection also includes a new assortment of golf-specific thermal and layering styles, as well as performance bottoms.

• Peter Millar's Halifax jacket for men is from the new Element4 line and is the perfect combination of function and style. Using signature-colored custom shock cord pulls and an ergonomic seam construction creates a windbreaker for golf that does not look like one.

• Peter Millar's standout piece for women is the Taylor, a wicking half-zip from the Element4 performance collection. From a fashion standpoint the Taylor offers a beautifully rouched neck, back pocket detail and contrast zipper taping. From a functionality standpoint, two-way wicking construction rapidly transfers moisture away from the skin.

• Pukka's Remix collection features four new looks for 2012. Each new look highlights a unique embellishment that only Pukka can execute in its low 48-piece minimum order, including 5-panel construction, cross-panel screen printing, specialty stitching, vertical embroidery, fabric combinations, washes and other trending custom appliqués.

• Birdy & Grace launches the Miracle Knit collection with the latest in bi-stretch knit fabrication, including a line of five pocket-boot-cut-jean-style pants. The item is designed to smooth out attributes of an active women's figure in a very flattering way. With compression capabilities, the Miracle jean will become a go-to bottom for fall 2012.

• Tommy Hilfiger's TH Tech polyester has characteristics that make it the ideal golf technical performance wear. A key to the performance is its ability to wick moisture and leave the wearer feeling comfortable and dry. TH Tech also has anti-microbial features with the anti-odor properties essential in a technical garment. Easy care is the ultimate payback - simply wash and dry.

• AUR's 2012 collections feature CarboCool fabric that blends polyester and bamboo charcoal. The benefits of this fabric include moisture wicking and fast drying for comfort, as well as anti-odor and UV protection for peace of mind. Carbonized bamboo is environmentally responsible, and offers the same benefits that a chemical finish would without the unnecessary harm to the environment.

• Antigua is expanding on its D2XL (Desert Dry Xtra-Lite) fabrics with newness in construction and a softer hand while maintaining focus on the drape of the fabric and how it correlates to the fit of the garment Add to that some simple but elegant style detailing in the way of pop color piping or contrast stitching and the finished garment appeals to a wide array of golfers.

• Cutter & Buck introduces its new Warm Yarn technology that will be available in its fall 2012 Men's CB collection. Lightweight double-faced fabric and hollow core fibers recycle body heat to create an insulating layer between the body and garment. The outer layer moves moisture away from the skin, helping to ensure comfort and function.

• Sligo's Preston pant, which will hit retail March 1, is a denim-inspired performance driven golf pant. Featuring a 90/10 polyester, spandex fabrication with Durable Water Repellent treatment, the pants have a hydrophobic layer that keeps the fabric light, dry and flexible. They will be available in black, white and fashion colors orange, yellow and reef blue.
