No rain delay necessary

Keeping warm and dry on the golf course this time of year in most parts of the country, can be an uncomfortable challenge. At least golfers are allowed to put on a jacket or rain suit - unlike the poor World Series baseball players who spent part of Game 5 drenched in a sideways downpour.

Granted, golfers don't run from hole to hole like baseball players rounding the bases, but having swing mobility is a critical performance feature in golf outerwear.

The technicians at Sunderland of Scotland know all about protecting golfers from the elements - they've been creating waterproof suits, windproof jackets, waterproof hats and umbrellas for men, women and junior golfers since 1932.

As a business founded by a family who manufactured outerwear and played golf, Sunderland of Scotland, (now a Daymond Willis Holdings brand), has a heritage of understanding the requirements of a garment to keep you dry in all the playing conditions that the Scottish weather can deliver - the ultimate testing ground for golfing in Mother Nature's wrath.

"If you can keep a caddy dry in Scotland standing in 50 mile an hour wind and rain," said Paul Sunderland, director, strategic development, "you can keep anyone dry."

"My father invented the first waterproof rainsuit for golf out of selfish necessity," Sunderland added. "He was fed up getting cold and wet on the Scottish golf courses, where it rains at least 200 days a year. He was a master tailor and avid golfer, so married his artisanal skill to his love for the ancient game."

Technical advancements like WhisperDry, Sound of Silence and Complete Mobility Design define the Sunderland brand and their commitment to continue producing the best playable outerwear.

• WhisperDry all stretch rainwear is designed with four-way stretch fabric for lightweight comfort and exceptional breathability. Sealed seam construction guarantees a totally waterproof garment.

• Sound of Silence is Sunderland's breakthrough technology in ultra quiet, ultra lightweight windwear, combining the very latest fabric technology with superior design features.

• Complete Mobility Design allows total freedom to move and swing no matter what situation you face on the course. Garments with CMD have been engineered to incorporate radial-motion sleeves, stretch panels, and/or full range bi-swing shoulders.

"Today's technology allows us to continue my father's legacy of innovation and quality for serious golfers everywhere," said Sunderland, "and the not so serious ones too. The new WhisperDry rainwear is truly the lightest jacket on the market at only 13 ounces. It's also the quietest, softest and least restrictive outerwear."

Quality, playability, lasting wear and reliability have become synonymous with the Sunderland brand. They back their products with a three year money back/replacement guarantee for any waterproof garment that fails for a waterproof reason, and a 12 month guarantee if it fails for a manufacturing reason.

For men, the rain and wind wear collections include full and half zip front long sleeve jackets, short sleeve pullovers, long sleeve v-neck and crew neck pullovers, lined vests, a selection of waterproof trousers, and rainsuits. The tops come in a variety of color ways, and bottoms are offered in classic black, brown and navy.

Women can choose from a variety of stylish jackets and fashionable vests, including a quilted microfiber vest that reverses to fleece and comes in four different color combinations. Ultra-soft, mesh lined wind pants are available in cream, black and coffee colors.

A selection of pieces for junior golfers, performance knits and fleece tops, along with hats and umbrellas round out the full Sunderland of Scotland product line. They have their own embroidery service so many of the outerwear pieces can be personalized to club's or events exact requirements.

Sunderland of Scotland is a sponsor of the European Ryder Cup team, the Solheim Cup, The Walker Cup and is a PGA partner. Its elite list of customers includes Augusta National, Pebble Beach and Pinehurst.
