• Nike Golf’s Women’s Initiative
Nike Golf formally launched its Women’s Initiative Program in February. Taking cues from other successful Nike divisions in the active women’s arena, the golf development team learned how women shop — from head to toe, and like to see it merchandised that way.

The result is recognizing the difference between playing goals versus playing ability, so three categories of equipment — the winning way, the steady way, and the fun way — were developed, in addition to three apparel groupings that cover different weather conditions.

The products are not necessarily new, but the way in which they are bundled and packaged are designed as guidelines to encourage being fitted for the proper equipment. Nike Golf saw this as the next piece of a logical business strategy to provide a solution on how to market golf better to women.

• Iconic Sport Sun Sleeves
Sunscreen? Check. Hat? Check. Water bottle? Check. Sun sleeves?

Iconic Sport’s lightweight sun sleeves are designed to protect arms from the sun’s harmful rays. They are made with UPF 50-plus UV protection (the highest possible rating), and will not wash out or sweat off.

Moisture management wicks away perspiration for a more comfortable feel. They are made from soft jersey in white or French terry fabric in sage, with anti-microbial/anti-odor and resilient spandex stretch that won’t impede the golf swing.

Two of the more notable end users of the sun sleeves are a United Nations worker located in Tanzania who needed sun protection for his arms but not an entire base layer, and a teaching pro in Hawaii who is completing chemotherapy and has increased sensitivity to the sun.

Get smart — add sun sleeves to your sunny day checklist.

The sleeves are machine washable in unisex sizes XS-XL for $24.95.
