Puma, Fairway & Greene and Golf by Claudia Romana all have something in common for women these days -- smart styles for late summer that will also take them straight into fall.
Here is a brief look at what's in store.
Finally, the wait is over. The Puma Golf Full Zip dress captured a great deal of attention when it was first seen on the Fashion Fairway at the PGA Merchandise Show last January. Now that the orders have shipped, we can get our hands on this much-anticipated golf dress.
"Puma Golf always strives to create a footwear, apparel and accessories collection that represents the core of our brand --Sportlifestyle -- fusing the influences of sport, fashion and lifestyle," said Bob Phillion, international business unit manager for Puma Golf. "The new golf dress is no exception to that rule. It is a perfect piece for both on and off the greens.
"We've found that our golfers want fashionable options that can work during and after 18 holes, and the Puma Golf Full Zip dress is a classic style that is colorful, fun and functional for today's modern golfer."
The classic zip-up design is both modern and feminine. Careful attention to detail is apparent, right down to the last stitch. The Puma golf dress has an intricate design along the neckline and zipper, is made from a comfortable stretch material, and sports a back pocket.
Pack the dress for business travel with a pair of heels and jacket to attend the conference -- bring clubs and golf shoes to wear for a fashionable round with associates.
The dress is available in two colors, super pink and black, with a suggested retail price of $95. It's available at select green grass shops and lifestyle boutiques.
Fairway & Greene's late-summer collection for women, Catalina Cove, features classic navy and white nautical prints as the cornerstone of the grouping. Infusions of lapis (a rich sea blue) and punch (an intense pink), with accents of marigold and pale pink, round out the rich color palette for this line. Rope and flag prints add whimsy to the seaworthy theme.
"Nautical-themed prints and classic yachting stripes have appeared in women's collections for decades," said Teri Schleifer, Fairway & Greene's vice president of design for its ladies division. "It's a timeless look that always evokes the finer things in life. We have updated this iconic look to fit today's lifestyle."
The assortment will include bottoms ranging from golf skirts to Bermuda shorts, and a new tapered pant. Cable sweaters, feminized golf shirts and sporty accent stripes on select pieces make it a breeze to mix, match and layer for a variety of late-summer conditions.
The Catalina Cove cotton sateen stretch skirt in navy and white trim (pictured, $90), with the accent striped short sleeve solid mesh shirt ($65), and navy pima baby cable v-vest ($110) have a crisp, updated classic look.
Also be on the lookout for the introduction of a new micro fleece, water repellant vest, and the re-launch of the popular merino stretch wind vest and wind sweater.
Inspired by the places she plays golf, Claudia Romana's fall 2007 collection boasts pieces that can be easily worn to the local club or when traveling to faraway destinations.
The line is influenced by the Scottish Highlands, using luxurious fabrics in rich hues of aubergine, crimson and moss. The ivory and camel color combination takes the array of apparel full spectrum from bright to understated.
Multi-stripe, knee-length Bermuda shorts, skorts and pants with detachable bottom portions that turn into capris are very versatile for the season. Pants come with Romana's signature pocket pouch that is also detachable.
Three-quarter zip polos and short sleeve shirts, in addition to full zip knit sweaters made from high tech yarns, the tops mix and match in an assortment of ways with the stripe bottoms. Paired with solid khaki bottoms, creates a more tailored look.
Outerwear including vests, double-faced polar fleece jackets and fur trim hooded cable sweaters give you the light layer of warmth needed on a cool fall morning, and make a nice cover up for casual dining in the evening.
The 2007 collection is a logical extension to previous seasons. Thanks to new manufacturing partnerships, Claudia Romana will offer a wider product range and a more comprehensive variety of designs.
Stay tuned for the 2008 Resort ensemble that will expand to après golf and reach an audience of avid golfers and spectators alike.
