New Year's Resolution

By Janice Ferguson
GPA Fashion Correspondent

Did you resolve to play more golf in 2007? We hope so, because it's a whole lot more fun than promising to lose the 3-inch fruitcake waistline.

Now is a great time of year to stock up the additional golf outfits you'll need to support those extra rounds -- and perhaps pounds. The in-between winter/spring season, and after holiday sales are offering up some great savings.

Here are three good online shopping sources:

$ www.golfsmith.com is having its semi-annual sales and clearance event. For a limited time, you can take an extra 25 percent off select outlet and clearance apparel for a total savings of 40 to 70 percent.

There are 12 pages of tops, bottoms and belts for men and women from the top brand names like Nike, Adidas, Izod, Ashworth, Tabasco, Tehama, Callaway, Greg Norman, Tail, Bette & Court, Jamie Sadock, Fidra, EP Pro and more.

Nice selections of golf shoes can also be found at a discount. Take advantage while supplies last. Sale ends Feb. 4.

$ www.edwinwattsgolf.com continues to advertise after Christmas on its Web site for up to 40 percent off apparel for the holidays. Its $5 flat rate UPS ground shipping is appealing as well.

Click on apparel, then the shoe closeout icon and find styles for men from Callaway, Ecco, Etonic, FootJoy, Hi-Tec and Nike. A pair of Custom Comfort shoes by Hi-Tec was $99.99 and are is $49.99. If you buy two pairs of closeout Hi-Tec shoes, you can get them both for only $79.99.

The Edwin Watts Web site uses control scan verification that helps secure sensitive information from misuse and identity theft. That always makes online shopping feel a bit more secure.

$ www.iznadgolf.com sounds like it might be located in New Zealand or close, but no worries. It's actually based in Wall, N.J. The site carries several name brands in addition to some boutique golf apparel lines for men, women and juniors.

The twist is a category called Lucky Size Discount that features a large selection of low inventory men's and women's golf apparel at great prices. You have to fish around a bit to find something you like in your size, but it's well worth the hunt as it also offers free ground shipping on all Lucky Size sale items.

One example is the Tundra golf jacket by Antiqua, valued at $100, regularly $84.95 and now $69.95 -- if your lucky size is available

This should help get you started achieving one resolution. Happy New Year!
