PGA Fall Expo "Fun New Things"

The PGA Fall Expo held earlier this month in Las Vegas for merchandise buyers and pros, was a gnat's eyelash in size compared to the granddaddy show that takes place in Orlando every January.

But it was still packed with things to see -- from great looking apparel for next spring to a handful of new companies debuting their hopes of cracking into this competitive industry. Not to mention the trinkets that make you scratch your head and mutter, "Huh?"

Focusing on the positive, here are a few apparel standouts we deem worthy of a mention.

  • Aerogreen premium golf shoes for women are re-entering the U.S. market. They are beautiful hand-woven leather uppers with calfskin leather lining for long lasting wear and comfort. A carbon rubber outsole for durability and flexibility allows for no hassle changing spikes. They also feature an anatomical innersole for fit, cushioning and arch support.

They come in fashion forward colors as well as the classic traditionals. There is an additional feature in that you can get a matching adjustable belt available in each shoe color. Very aerocool.

Go to www.aerogreen.com to see all the styles and get information.

  • For instant heat relief, soak your Aussie Chiller hat with splashes of water and stay cool for hours. Soaked Chillers completely stop head sweats and stains. They will not lose shape, shrink, rot or smell -- and are virtually indestructible.

Perforations block sun, but allow ventilation. They are soft and comfortable, stylish and protective, whether you need to chill them down or not. The booth was very busy writing orders, so we're not the only ones who thought it was a great find.

Styles come in caps, buckets, fedora and outback. Logo placement is also available.

    Go to www.aussiechiller.com for information.

  • Female tennis players have had them peeking out from under their skirts for years. They're almost like underwear but not. Nike and Serena Williams helped make them athletically sexy.

Well, now it's the golfer's turn. The boy short has been popular in lingerie, and we're marching it right on out to the course. The boy short turns a golf skirt into a skort, making it more comfortable to play, pick up balls and stoop to line up putts.

And when they're brightly colored in a fun pattern, who wouldn't want a little of Birdie's stretch cotton boy short to be seen? Suggested retail for the short is $28 -- the boy not included.

Go to www.birdie.com for retail locations.

  • Think outside the box for your next tournament gifts. The colorful leather collection by Baekgaard Ltd. will give you fabulous ideas for gifts that are far from mundane. Apple green, Maui pink, coral, lemon, pumpkin and Caribbean blue in a choice of travel clocks, luggage tags, passport covers, Powerbook sleeves, business card holders, mini mirror, photo key chains and more.

All items in this colorful collection are constructed of genuine leather and designed by the Vera Bradley team exclusively for Baekgaard Ltd. Brighten your world with these colorful items at home or on the go.
